Harriers grateful for Vitality run

PRAEGVILLE – Participants choose to run their own route as well as meet up at Randburg Harriers to run a Vitality run.

Randburg Harriers was proud to host the third run in the Vitality Run Series, and the running club received great feedback from those who participated.

“Randburg Harriers could not be more grateful for the support from Discovery Vitality as revenue-generating opportunities since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic has been limited,” explained Harriers’ acting chairperson, Melissa Arnold.

“It has been a much-needed cash injection that will assist us immensely.”

The virtual run was held on September 4 and 5, with participants choosing to either run virtually or signing up to run the actual Harriers route from the Randburg Sports Complex in Praegville.

Virtual participants could run anywhere run at least 5km (which had to be recorded with a digital device), but Harriers hosted their own 5km, 10km and 21.1km routes.

The Harriers routes had staggered starts to ensure crowding was limited.

And so it looked very different from when the run was last held in 2019 and thousands hit the streets together.
