The best of women’s golf comes to Randpark
RANDPARK – Lejan Lewthwaite wins the Invitational, with Nobuhle Dlamini and Ivanna Samu sharing the Standard Bank Pro-Am Series.
It was a sensational two days of golf at Randpark Golf Club, as the best women golfers in the country proved their mettle in the Standard Bank Pro-Am Series and Invitational.
The weather was cold and cloudy, with some rain in-between, but it did not stop golfers from heating up the action on October 25 and 26.

Even the amateur golfers took the tournament very seriously, and barely a word was spoken, even between shots, as concentration was all-important.
Taking the honours at the Invitational on the second day, was Lejan Lewthwaite, who shrugged off a poor season abroad, to come home and win the tournament.
“It’s good to be back home and playing good golf again,” she said.

“I haven’t had a very good year overseas, so it’s really nice to be back home and playing decent golf again. What Standard Bank has done for us is huge; another corporate coming to support ladies’ golf is massive for the growth of the sport and the development of women’s golf.”
The eight-tournament series was won by both Nobuhle Dlamini and Ivanna Samu, since there is no play-off.

That was Dlamini’s second series win while it was Samu’s fourth.
“It feels really good to win the series, [the last event] was held under tough conditions but fun,” said Dlamini.
