Kim takes her golf overseas
SUNDOWNER – Even from the age of seven Kim Turgut started competing in tournaments in America.
Curro Aurora alumni, Kim Turgut is enjoying her golf overseas.
Turgut, who matriculated last year, has been playing since she was five years old and was a regular at the Gary Player children’s clinics at World of Golf and SA Kids Golf tournaments. From the age of seven, she started competing in tournaments in America.
Turgut played golf for Central Gauteng Golf Union and for Ladies Golf Gauteng, competing in several inter-provincial tournaments.
One of the goals that she achieved was climbing to fifth in the South African Amateur Junior Rankings and she is currently ranked about 1 600 in the world amateur golf rankings.

While being a learner and enjoying playing golf for Curro Aurora, Turgut loved every golf trip she went on.
“I am grateful for all the support I received from everybody at Curro Aurora throughout the years,” she said.
“Like many top high school athletes in South Africa, it was my dream to study in the USA on a sports scholarship.”
Turgut is excited to have reached her dream to be playing in Division 1 collegiate golf for California State University Northridge in 2022.
She is looking forward to her new adventure in Los Angeles.
