Foundation introduces local learners to motorsport industry career options
Africa Race Together, a development-driven foundation will introduce 215 learners to full motorsport experience.
Africa Race Together, a development-driven foundation committed to lowering barriers of entry into motorsport and the South African Endurance Series, is making significant strides toward inclusivity and transformation in the field.
On November 29, the foundation will host 215 Grade 10 and 11 students from local high schools, introducing them to career opportunities within the motorsport industry that extend beyond the role of the driver.

The initiative is geared towards students who have actively chosen to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects. The goal is to demonstrate how their academic choices can lead to rewarding careers in motorsport, especially in roles such as engineering, mechanics, and team support.
Ferndale High School and North Riding Secondary School are the local schools that will be participating in the event.
Other participating schools incudes:
ā¢ Phomolong Secondary School,
ā¢ Lonehill International Academy,
ā¢ Liberty College,
ā¢ Fourways High School, and
ā¢ St Peter’s College.

The foundationās founder, Xolile Letlaka, said that their mission at Africa Race Together isnāt to scout drivers. Itās to build a diverse and skilled support team within motorsport, drawing from previously excluded communities.
āThese students have shown an interest in STEM subjects, and we want to show them that their skills are highly valued and relevant to motorsport. This initiative isn’t just about career exposure, it’s about changing the face of the sport itself.ā
The programme aims to build an employment pool that racing teams can tap into for skilled professionals from diverse backgrounds.
Africa Race Together’s strategy is to nurture talent from a young age, supporting studentsā growth through to university, helping them gain the necessary qualifications and experience to pursue unique and specialised careers in motorsport.
