Empower children through books
RISIDALE – Grey Hat Foundation's Adopt Your Local School campaign was launched earlier this year.
Grey Hat Foundation, a registered non-profit organisation, is dedicated to promoting literacy, reading and getting books into the homes of underprivileged children and families across the country.

This NPO recently sponsored over 1 000 library books to Risidale Primary through its Adopt Your School campaign.
Grey Hat Foundation, managed by Eric Mpofu, adopted a school and donated books to support the school’s reading initiative in celebration of Youth Month.
Eric Mpofu has found a way to share his passion for children’s access to quality education with the pupils at the primary school.
He launched the Grey Hat Foundation’s Adopt Your Local school campaign earlier this year to challenge parents and corporate companies to participate in supporting local schools in providing the best education.
The charity has since garnered the support of four major sponsors: Holy Trinity CE Primary School’s Eco club, the Jefferies Family and Vineyard Community Centre from England who have collectively donated over 1000 books for the campaign.
DHL South Africa made it all come together through freight sponsorship. “It has been a joy to work with these sponsors on this project,” said Dr Mpofu. “We believe literacy is a right that provides equal opportunity to achieving the African dream, which every child deserves,” continued Dr Mpofu. “Programmes like this encourage our nation’s children to focus on reading as part of their daily educational routine, helping to provide them with a better chance to succeed in school and life.”
The donated books are the property of the school. The books are appropriate for all school ages from grade R to 7.
As a result, Grey Hat Foundation has changed and touched lives in five African countries since its inception in 2009.
