Magical toy tree delight
CRESTA – Shining the light to a festive season was felt by all at the Cresta tree lighting celebration.
Cheers of joy and delight was felt by all as the season to be jolly began at Cresta Shopping Centre.

As with every traditional Christmas celebration, a large tree is in order. A huge, somewhat unorthodox tree, decorated with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse plush toys adorned the food court entrance on 1 December.

Dozens of enthusiastic visitors huddled near the tree waiting to catch a glimpse of the sparkling lights. Boskop Primary School choir amazed the crowd by singing carols with stunning vocals from such young talent.

Leanne Dlamini, singer and entertainer, wowed spectators with her rendition of Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer and Disney’s Frozen soundtrack, Let It Go. Roxy Burger, the MC for the event, welcomed the children and families to the countdown of the Magical Toy Tree lighting.

The moment came when the sparkling lights were turned on which warmed the hearts of many as the excitement could be seen in their eyes.

Visitors were encouraged to make donations to the SOS Children’s Village, which is a home close to Cresta’s heart. With each donation not only did the children received a plush toy but much-needed funds to make their lives easier.

Children dressed in their favourite Disney characters to join in on the magic. Little princesses could be found frolicking around the audience in their ball gowns.

A few select members of the crowd were treated to an exclusive premiere of Disney’s new movie Moana.
