A picnic symphony
BLAIRGOWRIE – A local orchestra invites you to another great performance.
The Rand Symphony Orchestra is preparing for the perfect accompaniment for your picnic.
Their Petite Performance and Premiere, with piccolo soloist George Fazakas, will be a variety performance outdoors on the lush green lawn of Domus Dei, Randburg-Suid, in Blairgowrie, at 3.30pm on 11 April.
Bring your afternoon-tea picnic basket and blanket and enjoy the performance conducted by resident conductor and musical director, Carel Henn.
If seating is required, chairs will be available.
The full Rand Symphony Orchestra will perform the premiere of the work, Kérésre by composer Jaco Meyer, with soloist George Fazakas on piccolo.
Then, members of the orchestra will play a variety of works led by Meyer.
These will include selected movements from the Brandenburg Concerto for two flutes, solo violin and strings; the String Serenades by Elgar, Dvorak and Tchaikovsky; Gounod’s Petite Symphony (three movements); a movement from Dvorak’s Serenade for winds and Rondeau’s Symphony for Brass.
A maximum of 200 tickets will be sold and they can either be bought online at Quicket or at the door from 2.30pm on the day of the performance.
Children U12 can attend for free.
