Music returns

BLAIRGOWRIE – Rand Symphony Orchestra blows audience away in brilliance of the first concert in months.

Hundreds showed their support for the return of public performances by Rand Symphony Orchestra, and were treated to cracking concertos and sensational soloists.

This at the Picnic Variety Performance on the lush lawn of Domus Dei Randburg Suid, Blairgowrie, on the late afternoon of October 24.

The grass was covered with blankets and chairs as classical music lovers settled down for the show.

A special highlight was the performances by three young soloists. They were initially chosen for last year’s cancelled youth concert, and were now invited to perform at the re-opening of the orchestra’s live performances.

Annie Chang, Daniel Spies and Marilize Diedericks drew great applause from the crowd with their musical skill.

And as always, the orchestra, led by conductor Carel Henn, was superb in its choice of composers and execution of the music.
