Dance academy impresses at Joburg Ballet Studio

Dancers from Beyond The Barre wowed audiences with their talent and technique during a prestigious Pas de Deux workshop at the Joburg Ballet Studio.

During a recent Pas de Deux workshop at the Joburg Ballet Studio, dancers from Beyond The Barre Dance Academy demonstrated their impressive skill.

Ilse de Bruyn, studio owner, explained that three of their senior dancers joined national ballet legends on the day. Both Ilse and senior ballet teacher Joanne Dieckmann also accompanied their dancers.

“Presented by the esteemed Iain and Karen McDonald of National Ballet South Africa, the workshop offered a rare and enriching experience in classical ballet partner work,” said Ilse.

Mackenzie Daniels, Shiloh-Skye Janse van Rensburg and Cara Naude took part in the workshop, which Ilse described as one of the most technical aspects of ballet, requiring trust, timing and refined skills.

“A highlight of the day was being partnered by professional soloist Bruno Miranda, giving the young dancers first-hand experience of working alongside a seasoned professional. It was a masterclass in both technique and inspiration. Our dancers left with a deeper appreciation of ballet as an art form and a renewed sense of motivation,” she said.

Ilse extended her gratitude to National Ballet South Africa and all those involved for making this opportunity possible.
