Miners to receive houses

The handing over of houses is rather a token of appreciation.

Sibanye Gold mine will be handing out 100 houses to its mine workers as a token of appreciation on 30 July.

This is in line with their aim to uplift their miners and have them stay with their families on a full time basis.

According to Sibanye Gold’s communications officer Santie Keyter, this is one of their efforts of giving back to their workers and ensuring that they have a comfortable stay while working for the mine.

“We understand the troubles that most of our workers go through of not living with their wives and children.

“As a token of appreciation towards the work they put into growing the company, we have decided to hand over the houses just to give them that sense of stability and allow them to live with their families not far from work,” says Keyter.

The houses are located at the Sibanye Gold’s Libanon Village and are equipped with two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and lounge.

Previously, the company built hundreds of other houses in areas such as Glenhavie and Driefontein which were also handed out to its workers.

According to Keyter, the houses are handed over to the miners who work for the company for the duration of their employment and houses will be handed down to other workers should the current beneficiaries opt to change employment.

“I am happy to announce that we are proud of this initiative as it constantly changes lives.

“We hope that the workers will enjoy their stay at the premises as we are happy to have them here,” says Keyter.
