CPF parade a success

We are really just fighting for a crime-free Randfontein.

The Randfontein Community Policing Forum (CPF) held the last of their crime prevention parades on 31 August and managed to bring traffic to a standstill.

The CPF together with local security companies, ER24 and the Randfontein Traffic Department met at the Randfontein police station and paraded down the length of Main Reef Road.

This was to create awareness of the CPF and its mandate and marked the last of their parades which started on 26 August.

Prior to this, the CPF paraded other areas in Randfontein namely Greenhills, Culemborg Park, Randgate and Helikon Park

According to thePublic Relations Officer for the CPF Executive Committee Warren Anderson, the turnout at the parades were amazing.

“We are really pleased with the response we received from the community.

“On the last day of our parade, we literally had people who were traveling to their own destinations join in on our parade.

“This goes to show that people are becoming more aware of the criminal element in their communities and are keen on joining us in our fight against crime,” says Anderson

He ads that throughout the parade, the CPF together with relevant authorities engaged with members of the community to inform them about ways of keeping safe at all times.

“Since our parades, I am pleased to announce that our membership literally jumped from 20 members to 300 members in a period of five days.

“If there was ever any proof that our communities are fed up with crime, this is it.

“It is only a matter of time before officers of the law with the help of residents clamp down on criminals.

“We are really just fighting for a crime free Randfontein,” says Anderson.
