She strives to help those in need
Pauline Mokae dedicates her time to help those less fortunate.
For several years now, Pauline Mokae has dedicated her time to helping. She does this by running a daycare centre from her home in Wheatlands.
According to Pauline, she currently has 44 children coming to her home on a daily basis. As part of her daycare programme Pauline feeds them and helps them to get ready for schools.
She also has an after-school programme where she assists pupils from her community with their homework and provides them with lunch.
“As a registered NGO, I sometimes struggle to keep the programme going as I pay all of the expenses out of my own pocket. But it is still a privilege to be able to help others,” she says.
She further says that she has three full-time teachers who assist her in looking after the children.
Although Pauline’s main focus is to help the children with their school homework and to be a safe haven for the toddlers, she also gets the children involved in extra curricular activities such as traditional dancing, gumboot dancing and even soccer.
She adds that she has four division teams who participate in the local soccer league. These teams include an u/13 and a u/15 team as well as a senior boys and a girls soccer team.
“The players in the soccer squads are my pride as they excell in their chosen sport. However, they do need to be assited in sponsorships for new atire,” she adds.
