Westonaria police have appealed to public for help in locating a dangerous rape suspect.
The man has been on the run for more than four months.
The man is sought by police for the attempted rape of a 15-year-old girl in a veld in Libanon in June this year.
Authorities have warned that he is regarded as dangerous.
At the time of the incident, the girl had left her home to look for her brother, who was supposed to feed the dogs.
While walking through the veld, the man grabbed her from behind and dragged her to a nearby wooded area where he covered her mouth, pushed her to the ground and strangled her.
He tried to rape her but the girl fought back and managed to escape after landing a kick to the man’s groin.
She ran home and upon arrival, she informed her mother about the incident.
According to Westonaria SAPS spokesperson, Constable Thembi Masango, a case of attempted rape was opened and the girl was able to provide police with an identikit of the suspect.
