Following the recent public meeting with the mayor, the following.
The taxpayers turned out in impressive numbers – well done on filling the hall. Unfortunately, we were bullied again because all the information provided was presented as a promise for the November 4 election.
Why can I say that? They will not be there anymore after the election, and we will still not have water as promised. No concrete reservoir can be built in four months – not anywhere in the world and not even in Randfontein.
The mayor and an official of the council said that the money is in the bank, but they never informed us, as taxpayers, how much was given to the council to improve the standard of living in Randfontein.
To the taxpayers: You will still sit without water during the day. No toilet can be flushed, and there is no tap water to make tea, prepare food, do washing or bathing.

Let’s meet again on December 14 at Greenhills Stadium to see who will be there. I say the taxpayers will be there, but no one from the council or Rand West City Council will be there because the reservoir will not be finished to supply water.
This means that if you have not spent about R15 000 to get a 1 000-litre or 2 000-litre water tank at home, you will still sit without a normal flow of water at home.
Who wants to challenge me and see that what I say is true?
During the public meeting, Executive Mayor William Matsheke reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to addressing the water crisis and ensuring the successful implementation of the reservoir upgrade.
“Access to water is a human right. We are determined to uphold it; therefore, we will ensure that this reservoir upgrade project is successful so that we can all have water flowing from our taps,” said Matsheke.
