The Herald has been approached by a finsbury resident who wishes to warn residents about criminal activities happening in the area; particularly in Maluti Street.
This comes after the man’s home was almost broken into on 24 October at approximately 10 pm..
According to Henry Nkalo, he was sleeping when he heard strange noises in his yard.
Shortly after this, the alarm on his front door went off and he decided to investigate.
“I went to investigate what had happened and that is when I saw an unknown man jumping over the boundary wall, leaving my yard.
“That is when I knew that had I not had the alarm system, something terrible could have happened.
“We managed to capture him on the CCTV footage but that is not clear enough,” says Nkalo.
The footage in question indicates that the man had jumped over boundary walls of three houses prior to landing into Nkalo’s yard.
There, he went to the car in the driveway and looked through the window for valuable items.
The footage also reveals that the man then proceeded towards the front door of Nkalo’s home but was stopped in his tracks when the alarm went off.
According to Nkalo, he and his family were fortunate enough that nothing happened on the day in question.
“I just want to warn people of this area about what is going on.
“The fact that this man jumped through so many boundary walls in order to get to my house goes to show that criminals will go to any lengths to target us,” says Nkalo.
