Local flats flooded

Owners are accused of caring about nothing but money from tenants.

Residentxs of the Park Gate Flats in Park Street, Randfontein, are up in arms over the failure by the owner of the complex, to repair hail damage to the roof of the block of flats following the recent severe hail storm.

The roof of the block of flats suffered severe damage during the hail storm, and heavy rains recently has caused even further damage to individual flats.

According to devastated resident Christine Vorster, the property agents who manage the block of flat seem to care about nothing but money.

“Every time it rains our flats flood,” says Vorster.

“We have suffered so much damage. Our furniture is ruined and our electrical appliances are now useless due to the water damage.

“We have contacted the property agents and informed them about this problem but they couldn’t care less.

“We are constantly told that they are busy but it has been a weeks since the disaster happened and they have not fixed our roofs.

“I am forced to sleep in a place that is soaking wet,’ sobs Vorster.

The Herald has contacted the managing agents of the block of flats, who say that they have reported the damage to the owner of the block of flats, who refused to comment, saying only that the matter has been reported to the owner of the flats.
