Open health day event a staggering success
This was also in line with encouraging people to know more about themselves and issues affecting their health.
Staff members at PJ Maree clinic in Toekomsrus hosted a successful Open Health Day on 6 December at the clinic’s premises.
This was to create awareness on the HIV and AIDS pandemic as well as other illnesses such as TB and raise the importance of oral hygiene among other issues.
According to Facility Manager Jacomien van Breda, this was also in line with encouraging people to know more about themselves and issues affecting their health.
“People are often not aware of how they can live a healthy lifestyle or even make informed decisions when it comes to their health.
“We thought that this event would serve as an information platform and provide facilities where they can test for anything ranging from HIV, pap smear, TB, eye screening and immunization among other tests,” says van Breda.
She adds that during proceedings they held a candle light ceremony to commemorate World Aids Day and 16 Days of Activism against Women and Children Abuse.
“I would like to thank the general public for showing support of this event as well as our sponsors Pipes and Elbows in Plastics as well as Marne Bibby and the clinic staff.
“This event would not have been possible without them and our guests,” says van Breda.
