Final voter’s registration weekend
Residents are urged to excercise their right and register to vote in order to have a say in their democracy.
Randfontein — Potential voters will have one final chance to register for the upcoming elections on 8 and 9 February.
During this time, prospective voters will be expected to produce their South African Identity Document (ID) when visiting their voting stations for the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, IEC Chairperson Advocate Pansy Tlakula announced that 50 000 registration voters have been recruited and trained and is confident that they are ready for the final registration period.
She also annouced that South Africa’s voting stations have increased over the years and currently stands at 22 363 voting stations for the upcoming elections.
This is expected to provide easier access to voting stations and improve the time it takes for voters to cast their ballots.
She also announced that in order for everyone to have a say in their democracy, the IEC will visit corrections facilities throughout the country on 5 and 7 February to allow inmates an opportunity to register for the upcoming elections.
