Traffic department to host awareness roadshow

This is to encourage motorists to pay their traffic fines. Those who do so on the day will receive a 50 per cent discount.

The Westonaria Traffic Department is set to conduct a road show at the Westonaria Taxi Rank on 29 March.

According to municipal spokesperson Kgabane Madiehe, the purpose of the event will be to create awareness and educate motorists on the importance of paying their traffic fines.

“Our plan is to persuade motorists to pay their traffic fines and also inform them of the consequences of not doing so.

“People must be encouraged to become law abiding citizens in their own country and this initiative will do just that.

“It will also teach our motorists about road safety among numerous pertinent issues,” says Kgabane.

He adds that those who pay their traffic fines will get fifty percent discount on the day.

“We will be having a fully equipped pay station in the form of a bus where people can pay for their traffic fines.

“Credit card payments will also be accepted,” says Madiehe.

The roadshow is expected to move to other parts of Westonaria such as the Bekkersdal taxi rank on 5 April and on the N12 in Zuurberkom on 12 April.
