Westonaria Executive Mayor, Nonkoliso Tundzi is set to give the State of the Town address on 27 March.

The Westonaria Local Municipality is set to host its State of the Town Address at the Banquet Hall at the municipal building on 27 March at 12.30pm.

According to Municipal Spokesperson Kgabane Madiehe, Westonaria Mayor Nonkoliso Tundzi will be expected to address media houses and attendants about the progress that the Westonaria Municipality has achieved since the inception of democracy.

“We are really excited that we will be sharing our success stories with our residents and have them conveyed to the rest of Gauteng.

“Owing to this, the Mayor will be speaking about the transformation of Westonaria and its surrounds as a whole and shed some light on the achievements attained thus far.

“She will also be addressing issues of service delivery and challenges thereof,” says Madiehe.

He adds that more than anything, the mayor together with the people in office are more than prepared to highlight the challenges faced and have plans in the pipeline to deal with them.

“No municipality is without challenges and we acknowledge that.

“What is more important is that we are working on those and this can be seen in the tools of trade we have recently acquired in order to speed up service delivery,” says Madiehe.

The Westonaria Local Municipality is currently under the spotlight for its handling of recent tensions in the Bekkersdal area.

The Mayor is expected to deal with the Bekkersdal crisis in some detail.

Residents of Bekkersdal have been steadfastly demanding that Tundzi and her entire management team be suspended due to alleged corruotion and maladministration within the Municipality.
