Motorists urged to have their cars checked

Motorists planning any road trips during the Easter holidays are advised to have their vehicles checked ahead of time.

Now that Easter is around the corner, residents of Randfontein and motorists alike are advised to have their vehicles checked and serviced ahead of time if they are planning on going on any road trips.

This is advise from the chairman of the Motor Industry Workshop Association (MIWA) Les Mc Master who says every year workshops are often bombarded in April with motorists wanting to have their vehicle checked and needing repairs at the last minute.

“While it is good that people want to have their cars checked, it is not advisable that this be done at the last minute.

“People need to understand the consequences of this and know that they may be a possibility that parts be out of stock if repairs need to be done.

“Sometimes one may need a specific part for their vehicle and find that it’s out of stock throughout the country,” says Mc Master

He adds that to ensure that one’s vehicle gets the attention it needs, motorists need to book their cars in for maintenance or repairs ahead of time to allow for any inconveniences that may occur to be sorted out on time.

He also advises that motorists make an appointment for a car check at an accredited workshop as soon as possible.

“The mechanics should be able to do a thorough check on the vehicle.

“This may include the testing of lights, suspension, drive lines, brakes tires, and so forth,” says Mc Master.

He adds that if a problem is identified, the mechanic should be able to advise the vehicle owner on what needs to be done and provide a quote for repairs needed.
