North Way also known as the Cemetery Road which connects Randfontein to Tarlton is increasingly becoming a huge safety risk for road users.
This is according to the Mogale City and West Rand Regional Leader for the Freedom Front Plus (FFP) Amanda de Lange who says that supervision has gone to the dogs on the road in question.
“This is a provincial road with a temporary entrance into the Randfontein Cemetery in Greenhills.
“However, there is no proper road signage at the entrance let alone any proper demarcated parking area.
“As it stands, funeral goers have to park their vehicles on both side of the road and this disrupts traffic.
“What bothers me most is the fact that there are no traffic officials to monitor this.
“People have to realize that this road carries a lot of heavy traffic and something needs to be done about it before someone gets hurt,” says De Lange who adds that she has approached the Department of Public Safety in Randfontein about the problem.
Meanwhile, Randfontein Local Municipality head of communications Phillip Montshiwa says that he will consult with the relevant department with regard to the issue and will revert back with comment.
