A nine year old boy sustained severe injuries following a pedestrian accident at the intersection of the R28 and R559 in Randfontein yesterday.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann, “Upon our arrival on scene paramedics found that a nine-year-old boy was in a critical condition following the accident.

“The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the critically injured boy to hospital for the urgent medical care that he requires. The intersection of the R28 and R559 had to be closed off for the helicopter to land and load the injured boy.

“Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.”
