EPR Security General Manager Johan Krogh has responded to the incident on Tuesday morning where an officer was arrested for allegedly resisting arrest.

“We wish to confirm that the reaction officer was not on duty at the time, and was acting in his personal capacity,” said Krogh.

“Although we do not condone the actions of the reaction officer in question, we must object to the herald referring throughout the article to the fact that he is an EPR reaction officer as this creates the impression with the public that he was on duty at the time of the incident and further that the vehicle you refer to with a non-matching licence plate and disc belongs to EPR Security.

“This is totally untrue and incorrect as all the vehicles of EPR Security are correctly registered and licenced. Whilst reaction officers are on duty EPR makes sure that they are in possession of valid drivers’ licence when they operate an EPR vehicle.

“The fact of the matter is that the reaction officer will now be subjected to a disciplinary enquiry and hearing based on the article that you published, and specifically in the manner you did, as it negatively impacts on the reputation of EPR Security despite the fact that the actions of this employee at the time actually had nothing to do with EPR Security.”
