Parents protest for principal to step down

'She is a dictator' — parent.

Parents whose children attend the Hartzstraat Primary School say they are fed up with the principal.

This was revealed during protest action outside the school premises early on Tuesday where the parents demanded that the principal step down with immediate effect. This follows allegations that she is ill-treating pupils and intimidating teachers who stand up to her.

The herald spoke to Gladwin Matthews, one of the parents who said, “The principal is a self-absorbed woman who fires teachers one after the other when their views oppose hers from time to time.

“This woman is evil and will do just about anything to make sure that the school goes down the drain. So far she has fired six good teachers and we heard that she also wants to get rid of another four simply because they stand up to her bullying tactics.

“As a community we are saying that we will not allow this to happen and we will continue to fight such dictatorship in this school.

“We will stop at nothing and we are determined to mobilise other residents to join us in this cause,” says Matthews.

Matthews also alleged that the principal appointed her husband and her child at the school despite the fact that they do not have any qualifications.

The herald attempted to speak to the principal at the school but she refused to comment and opted to walk away.
