Man shot in face, robbed: Second suspect arrested

Police arrested the second suspect, also 34 years of age in connection with the shooting.

Two men linked to an incident in which a man in his 50s was shot in a driveway have been arrested, police confirmed.

The two suspects are believed to have shot a resident in the face and leg during an armed robbery in Helikon Park one Friday in August.

They appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 10 September.

The two were arrested on Monday and Tuesday respectively following Randfontein police spokesperson Appel Ernst’s statement that they would not rest until the suspects responsible for the shooting were arrested.

She says one suspect was arrested in Johannesburg on Monday (8 September) while the other was caught on 9 September.

“I can confirm that we have arrested two guys in connection with the incident and our investigations are continuing,” says Ernst.

A similar incident occurred also in Helikon Park last year when Johnny Meyer was shot in the head in his driveway after pulling in his car.

He and his wife had just returned from the bank where they withdrew an undisclosed amount of money.
