Although their main aim is to offer a wide range of electrical products to the community, Elmaris Electrical Wholesalers have taken it a step further.
They recently reached out and gave a donation of R7 000 to Josuah’s Upholstery, which is operating in a one-room garage in the area. According to the owner, Josiah Dlamini, he opened the business in 2013. Part of his work includes repairing and cleaning lounge suites, roof linings and car seats.
Dlamini does not own the premises (garage) and has to pay rent of almost R3 000 per month.
He says although business is good, it remains tough coping financially, and with just one casual staff member, Dlamini requires all the help he can get.
For one of the owners of Elmaris Electrical Wholesalers, Dawid Marais, it’s more than just giving someone a financial boost.
Marais says the bigger picture is “about taking hands with other entrepreneurs/ businessmen, and helping them achieving success.
“By helping others we hope they will help the next and so on.”
Dlamini says, “This really will help me and I am truly grateful”.
Dlamini’s ultimate goal as businessman is one day to turn his business into a franchise, similar to a magnitude of KFC.
Tools handed to Dlamini included a vice, grinder, helmet, g-clamps, lights, safety goggles, pop rivets, hammer, dust buster, pliers, vise grip, bolt cutter, steel ruler all worth R2 500. He also received a R4 500 cash donation.
