Alleged Culemborg Park murderer knew victim

Speculations of the accused knowing the victim confirmed.

The 57-year-old accused of Rina du Plessis’ murder is to appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 18 November following a bail application.

This date follows a series of postponements. The accused first appeared on 13 October and the court date has been remanded to the 22nd and later to the 29th.

Du Plessis was found dead in her home in Culemborg Park on 5 October. Investigations at the scene revealed that property was missing from the house. A 35-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the crime on 11 October.

Lucas Smith, prosecutor at Randfontein Magistrates’ Court confirmed the accused knew the victim.

“The accused is not a family member, however, it is believed he lived on the premises so the victim knew him.”

According Smith, the matter is being investigated.
