Gunmen poison dog and attack family

Alleged shootout between security members and AK-47 wielding gunmen at Loumarina.

Peace was shattered on Thursday morning (20 November) when four gunmen allegedly shot their way out after committing a house robbery.

The herald was told on scene that four gunmen allegedly first killed the family’s beloved dog by throwing a poisonous substance over their front wall. When a woman who lives in the house came out to feed the dog she allegedly was attacked by the men who forced their way into the house.

Details about what happened inside the house are being investigated but the herald was told that one of the men allegedly was carrying an AK-47 assault rifle.

The incident that took place just after 5am allegedly left one of the gunmen wounded after a shootout between a security company and the intruders. No one else was injured seriously in the incident but the occupants of the house are traumatised severely.

The family have asked that neither their identity nor their address be published out of fear of being targeted again.
