R’fontein gropes in the dark again

Residents and business owners furious.

Load shedding has hit Randfontein hard leaving residents and business owners furious.

Lucky Chiya, spokesperson for the Ranfontein Local Municipality confirmed, “We are experiencing load shedding and we are waiting for the load shedding schedule from Eskom.”

Residents are not angry about the power cuts as much as they are upset about not being let know.

In a previous article in the herald, we warned that there will be load shedding in summer as Eskom is preparing for the winter.

Randfontein business owners are furious about losing business because they cannot operate without electricity.

A Randfontein mall in the CBD, Village Square, is one of the worst affected as the entire mall is dark and without electricity which can only give rise to increased criminal activity such as theft.

The website shows that today the demand is high or that they have scheduled maintenance. It also states people are currently experiencing stage 3 of load shedding and that they are currently in the black stage which means that the demand is extremely high.

However, a load shedding schedule is also not available on the Eskom Website  for Randfontein in general.
