Big Women’s Month celebrations in Simunye
This was a great opportunity for us as women to grow – MMC for Health and Social Development.
The Westonaria Local Municipality, Sibanye Gold Mines, the Premier’s office, Westonaria Social Services and other departments came together at the Simunye Multi-purpose center to celebrate Women’s Month on Friday 14 August .
The main aim was to educate women about financial and physical health.
Sibanye Gold Mines sponsored bags for the women, members of the Premiers office supplied fruit, water and gifts while the Westonaria Local Municipality sponsored food and the use of the hall.
The Greater Westonaria Transport Services transported the women in taxi’s, free of charge.
The women came from Zuurbekom, Glen Harvie, Simunye, Bekkersdal and Hills Haven.
Lindeni Sekhokoane, social worker at the Westonaria Local Municipality said,
This is a chance for all women to start over, taking care of yourself and your finances.”

Tokky Morolo, Executive Manager for Community Services and MMC for Health and Social Development, Anna Gela were also present. The Westonaria Health Department also had there mobile clinic there, assisting in educating women regarding health issues.
Philani and Sisabantou Non Profit Organisation (NPO) dealing with HIV and counselling, contributed to the day by educating women regarding this serious disease.
The highlight of the event was when three employees from Sibanye Gold Mines performed a drama production, teaching the communities how to manage your finances successfully. They performed it in a humorous manner, but at the end of the day all present was well informed of the road to financial success.
MMC for Health and Social Development, Anna Gela said,
We salute all women. This was a great opportunity for us as women to grow.”
