Mall assault saga: Centre management responds
The involved security guard was injured and was admitted to hospital for head injuries - Centre Management.
Francois du Buisson, general manager of Village Square Mall responded to the assault incident on Tuesday.
Wendy Meyer claims she was physically assaulted and verbally abused by a security guard that day.
Du Buisson confirmed the incident but added the security guard involved also was injured and has opened a case of assault against the plaintiff at the local police.
“Centre Management is aware of this incident. We can confirm that our Security company Fidelity is investigating the incident together with all the available footage. Pepkor Head Offices has also been informed.
Statements have been taken from the Pep Cell staff who witnessed the incident. Our security company Fidelity’s Head investigation team is in the process of conducting a detailed investigation and took statements from all involved.
“The involved security guard who was injured during this incident has opened a case of assault against the plaintiff at the local SAPS. The involved security guard was injured and was admitted to hospital for head injuries.”
