Cops nail suspects pushing car
Two men arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property.
Two suspects who got on the wrong side of the law were arrested for being in possession of stolen property, Westonaria Police confirmed.
On Sunday 6 September while on patrol duty in Borwa, Sergeant Mafoko and Constable Motswadi spotted two men pushing a white Opel Astra.
The two policemen became suspicious and approached the men. They asked them what was wrong with the vehicle and why they were pushing it.
They told the police it was a mechanical problem, but because the policemen were not satisfied with their answer they got out of their vehicle to inspect the Opel. That moment one of the suspects ran away.
The police inspected the car and saw the ignition had been tampered with.
The remaining suspect was arrested for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle. When they asked him who the owner of the vehicle was, he said,
The man who ran away.”
The arrested suspect took the police to the other suspect’s residence. They confronted him, asking him why he had run away leaving his car behind. The suspect could not answer the police and they arrested him on the spot.
The suspects, aged 31 and 32 respectively, will appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.
