Police need help in closing a case involving a woman who was left seriously injured on the side of a busy road during a hit-and-run incident in Pelzvale.
Although the incident occurred on 1 May, Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst said police urgently request the public to come forward with any information that might assist in closing the case.
Ernst confirmed at approximately 3:45am that day the woman was hit by a vehicle on the R28 across the Pelzvale smallholdings while allegedly crossing the road.
“The vehicle allegedly sped off and left the badly-injured lady next to the road,” Ernst said.
She continued,
A passing motorist saw the injured woman next to the road and summoned an ambulance a while later. The injured party was taken to a local hospital where she spent two months recovering. The incident was never reported to the police and only on her return home did the woman report the matter.”
Sergeant Freddy Mokone is the investigating officer.
“We also are urgently trying to trace the good Samaritan who stopped to assist the badly-injured woman on the side of the road.”
