Fun, food and friendly people at rugby bazaar

NG Helikonpark has rugby bazaar.

The NG Helikonpark Church recently had their annual rugby bazaar and drew mass attendance from the community.

The church usually has a bazaar before a big rugby match or during the Rugby World Cup.

The event is held in the church building and has tables across the floor. On the stage this year was a boereorkes that played while members of the church and the greater Randfontein community chatted away.

A number of food stalls were both in and outside the building. Each group who had a food stall had to sell their food under the name of the rugby team.

The Lions, Sharks, Cheetahs, Bulls, Stormers and naturally the Springboks were represented at each stall.

Some staunch rugby supporters even looked reluctant to buy food from opposition teams’ stalls but the food was such that it could not be resisted. The church also organised entertainment for the children and had them in the upstairs pews ‘catching fish’ out of a bucket.

The event ran from the afternoon until late the night. Old rugby matches were also played from a projector for those ardent rugby supporters.

Irma van Rensburg, Jan Nel, Chantal Visser, Dirk Visser and Elisma de Magalhaes represented the Springboks.
