Explosives used in vicious armed robbery

Police: Suspects also forced employees into a corner of the shop while pointing at them with firearms.

Four armed robbers wearing balaclavas took armed robbery to the next level. When targeting a local business they not only used firearms but explosives at well.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson confirmed the incident occurred just before midnight last Sunday (8 November).

The 22-year-old complainant alleged the four unknown males all wearing balaclavas entered the shop in Brandvlei at about 11.40pm. They forced the employees into a corner of the shop while pointing firearms at them.

“The suspects used an explosive device to access a safe in the shop. They took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a BMW.”

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Thabiso Duiker would appreciate any information that might assist him in the investigation.
