Business robbed of cash, airtime

Police: No person was seriously injured and no shots were fired.

A 40-year-old business owner was robbed of cash and airtime during mid-December.

The incident occurred at a general dealer around 3.10pm on Monday, 14 December 2015 in Mahalefa Street, Mohlakeng.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, “It is alleged by the 40-year-old shopkeeper that he was busy in a back room of the shop, when he heard funny noises.

He realised it was his brothers who were in the front of the shop. When he allegedly wanted to investigate, the brothers were forced into the room with him. The unknown suspects were armed and one of the brothers was hit on the back with a firearm.”

Cash and airtime was taken from the shop before the suspects fled. Ernst confirmed no person was seriously injured and no shots were fired.

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Karen Nel would appreciate any information that might assist her in the investigation. She can be contacted on 011 278 8100.
