
Yet another life has been lost on the R41 near Randfontein, mere months after the R41 horror crash in which 13 people instantly lost their lives.
On the evening of Saturday, 1 October, a motorist lost his/ her life after allegedly overtaking another vehicle in the west-bound lane of the R41 heading towards Randfontein; however, this information has not yet been confirmed by the police.

When the Herald arrived on scene, the vehicle – a red Toyota RunX – was lying on its roof, with a body next to it. It is believed there were four people travelling in the vehicle, one of whom did not survive.
The R41 up to its intersection with the R28 (Main Reef Road) was closed off after the crash.

This is the second accident on the road in which lives have been lost. The last major collision on the road took place on Friday, 29 April, when a taxi and truck collided.
The circumstances of the latest accident are unclear. When the Herald arrived on scene, Kagiso Police were busy with reports, but ambulances had already transported surviving patients to hospital.
