The Rosemarie Kahn Nursery School decked its halls with boughs of holly on Friday, 2 December as they awaited the early arrival of Santa Claus.

As part of their annual Christmas closing function the big man in red paid a visit and came bearing gifts – of course. Each toddler received a mystery box with toys and candy and then they enjoyed some ice-cream in the sun.

What made this event even more special is the fact that one of Rosemarie Kahn’s former toddlers, from 12 years ago, played the part of Santa, said Ilsa Otto, principal of the nursery.

“Rosemarie Kahn is very proud to have had one of our former toddlers, Dewald Odendaal, 20, play the part of Santa. He acquitted himself quite well,” she said.

The day was filled with cheers and laughter and it most certainly got the children into the festive spirit of Christmas.

“The little toddler-hearts were all very excited. It was once again a very special day for them; a day they will remember for a long time,” Ilsa concluded.
