DA spoil golden oldies rotten
Residents of Friendship Haven once again get treated by the town's councillors.
For the fourth year running, the DA Wards 5 and 7 ended off their year by treating Friendship Haven Old Age Home residents to an early tea.
According to Craig Harrison, DA Ward 7 councillor, this year’s tea was the biggest yet. He explained that over 130 residents attended the event. It took place on Saturday, 17 December in the old age home’s Jimmy Kitching Hall.
This year the event was organised by newcomer Eddie Krog, DA Ward 5 Councillor. He was assisted by volunteers from the community as well as Harrison and his Ward Committee who all helped make the day special from the home’s residents.
The breakfast serves as a way for the DA to give back to the community, especially those who are seemingly forgotten by society. As is deserved, the elderly residents of the home sat back for the morning and did nothing but choose what they wanted to eat – the DA as well as volunteers waited on residents hand and foot.
Donations received:
• Randgate Spar – 15 cakes
• Greenhills Spar – tea and coffee
• Randfontein Spar – Fruit juice
• Ward 7 Committee – Cash and food donation
• Sangrio Chicken – Cash donation
The DA also wishes the town all of the best for the festive season, Christmas and the New Year.
