Six gap year must-haves

Six things you should not be without while travelling and taking a gap year.

Not everyone wants to go to university or college directly after high school and some take a gap year to figure out what it is they want to do going forward.

Gap years sometimes include travelling, but no matter what kind of travelling is being done, there needs to be some form of preparation.

Here are six things you should not be without while travelling or taking a gap year.

– A collapsible water bottle

Water bottles are one thing but collapsible ones take hydration to a whole new level, not to mention that they take up less space when packing.

– Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a good idea in any situation, to block out harmful sun rays and, hey, they also look great.

– Sunblock

Heatstroke and sunburn are real, so make sure you have copious amounts of sunblock even if you’re travelling in the winter – the sun shines no matter the season.

– Neck pillow

You’ll be travelling, which likely means having uncomfortable naps on buses, cars, trains or plains. Save your neck the pain and invest in a neck pillow.

– Backpacks

Your luggage works for carrying things needed for a long stay, but what will you use on a daily basis? A backpack, of course. Where else would you put your sunblock, sunglasses and neck pillow?

– A GPS app

No matter where you’re travelling, make sure to at the very least have some form of map, and given the current digital age, what better way to avoid getting lost than having a GPS app?
