It’s almost Show time!
Latest update on the 31st Randfontein Show: All about this year's theme, ticket prices and taste of what entertainment is to come.
In just over six weeks, the 31st Randfontein Show will take place at the Greenhills Sport Stadium. The Show runs from 2 to 5 March and the big event promises to deliver a variety of entertainment for young and old.
According to Marcelle Mans, the show coordinator, the phones are ringing off the hook and the Randfontein Show office is a hive of activity.
“We plan well in advance for what is known as the ‘West Rand’s biggest business and social extravaganza’ and we have been working very hard to make sure show visitors get the best value for their money.”
She added, “The theme for 2017 is ‘Bicycles – moving forward’, and it will be interesting to see how the exhibitors decorate their stalls to fit in with the theme. We will also decorate the show grounds to fit the theme and we are once again looking forward to a record attendance.”
Show visitors can look forward to variety of entertainments – there will be something for the whole family to enjoy, from live entertainment on three stages to motorcycle stunts, mini-circus acts, stilt walkers, dog shows, camel rides, wrestling, strongman demos, go-karts, archery, a climbing wall, a mechanical bull, a simulator, shooting tunnel, bungee bouncing and an assortment of funfair rides.
Live entertainment in the main entertainment arena on the A field includes: Manro van der Merwe, Saarkie, 4Werke, Refenstse, Brendan Peyper, Ricus Nel, Liza Bronner, Touch of Class, Tanya V, Adam Tas, Jay and Lianie, Gavin Edwards ( from The Voice) and Riana Nel.
Die Vasbyters will be doing a special performance for the senior citizens on 2 March, while popular children’s entertainers Lollos (4 March) and Clarice and the Rainbow Kidz (2 and 3 March) will delight the younger generation.
Jana du Plessis will be the special guest speaker for the Women’s World Day of Prayer on Friday, 3 March and Dewald Gouws is the guest artist for the Hospice/ Motorcycle Run on Sunday, 5 March.
Highlights in the Kuierskuur include Quentin Prinsloo, Riaan Grobler, Gert Koevert and Band, Irene-Louise van Wyk, Rohan Boere Orkes, Poppekas with Lizelle, and a Country Show with Billy Forrest and Clive Bruce.
“Cheaper show entrance tickets will be available from a number of outlets from 23 January until 1 March where adults only have to pay R60 per ticket – a saving of up to 25 per cent. For the amount of entertainment on offer, this is most definitely a value-for-money event and many people visit more than once because there is so much to see and do.”
Ticket prices at the gates from 2 to 5 March:
• Adults – Thursday: R70
• Friday, Saturday and Sunday: R80
• Children (ages 6 to 12) R35
• Children under 6 free
• Senior Citizens (65+) R35
