VIDEO: Illegal gathering at Westcol dispersed by police
Angry Westcol students distressed about lecturers' qualifications and outstanding results for completed studies.
The Randfontein Police dispersed an illegal gathering of students at the Randfontein Westcol Campus on Thursday, 19 January.
The students gathered in Kiewiet Street, Helikonpark early that morning. The gathering was dispersed shortly afterwards, at 9.10am.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police’s spokesperson, student leaders said the reason for the gathering was because students are aggrieved about lecturers’ qualifications and outstanding results for completed studies.
She said the police officers were deployed to ensure the meeting outside the campus was peaceful. It is still unclear to the Herald whether the issue between the institution and its students was resolved.
