Get to know a ‘Teiner #1 for 2017
The first person in the Herald’s Get to know a Randfonteiner 2017 project introduces herself.
Meet the first Randfonteiner for 2017, Bafedile Dilwane.
Bafedile has lived in Randfontein for the past five years. She currently lives in Randgate. Before she relocated to Randfontein, she lived in Rustenburg.
To make a living, she works as a caregiver at the Rainbow Daycare Centre, which is a haven for disabled children. She has worked there for four months.
Bafedile’s hobbies include watching television and playing with her 13-year-old daughter, who is her pride and joy.
She said she knows she is in Randfontein when she sees the many, many mines in the area.

In terms of directions, and as many Randfonteiners do, she explained how to get from Randgate to her work not by giving an address but by directing from a landmark.
In her directions to her place of work she went into extreme detail and while mentioning which turns to take and which specific landmarks to look out for, she noted men looking for work as well as vagrants living under the Delmas bridge before getting onto the R28, on which the care centre is located.
Lastly, Bafedile told the Herald her Randfontein nickname, which is ‘Fefe’. She said she got the nickname at school, because her teacher had trouble pronouncing her name.
