Life Robinson opens its Renal Dialysis Unit doors
Life Robinson Private Hospital have opened their renal unit.
In keeping with their promise to make life better, Life Robinson Private Hospital officially opened its Renal Dialysis Unit in March.
“The new unit was added to the hospital’s services in response to a noticeable need in our community,” said Dr Marinda Overbeek, the hospital manager.
“The prevalence of chronic kidney disease continues to increase worldwide, as does the prevalence of end-stage renal disease. We will now be able to provide this service and necessary treatment to our patients in-house.”
The seven-bed renal dialysis unit, equipped with two isolation cubicles, is supported by Dr Mathews Thomas, resident nephrologist and physician. Dr Thomas has a wealth of experience which will be an asset to the hospital and dialysis patients.
The unit welcomed its first patient, Lungile Zulu, in March. The treatment offered includes chronic haemodialysis, acute dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and plasmapheresis. Dialysis services are offered from Monday to Saturday and flexible sessions can be arranged.
