Mayor Khumalo’s Easter wish
Executive Mayor of the Rand West City Local Municipality has wished the community a peaceful Easter.
Mzi Khumalo, the Executive Mayor of the Rand West City Local Municipality has wished the community a peaceful Easter.
Khumalo spoke to the Herald from his chambers and said the council acknowledges all the different religions in the community. He said, “We are wishing every resident a peaceful,enjoyable Easter”.
He also said that he has a very soft spot for the youth and added they should not use this period to abuse alcohol, but rather use it to reflect on their innocence and spirituality. He also said that the youth should revive their energies and focus on going forward.
“Randfontein and all surrounding areas should stand together and continue to build our country. We should also remember Nelson Mandela’s reconciliation dream and concentrate on building our nation.”
Khumalo also warned the community to be careful on the roads, and not to drink and drive, to avoid the terrible Easter carnage that happens on our roads every year. He said that if you drive long distances, you should rest and refresh yourself regularly, before driving any further.
“To all Christians, during this period, we will remember the sacrifices Jesus made for us when He suffered and died for our sins on the cross.” Mayor Khumalo concluded.
