Brace yourself … For an official pump shock
The petrol price will be increasing tomorrow so fill up.
And so it begins …
The Department of Energy has released the official petrol price for May and it’s not good news for motorists.
The increase will come into effect on Wednesday, 3 May.

Both 93 and 95 octane petrol will see an increase of 49 cents per litre and diesel will be up by 30 cents per litre for 0,05 per cent sulphur content and 32 cents per litre for 0,005 per cent sulphur content. Illuminating paraffin will go up by 34 cents per litre.
According to Business Tech, the main reason for the hike is the weakening of the Rand against the US Dollar.
The Rand crumbled after the Cabinet reshuffle by President Jacob Zuma, and the subsequent downgrade by Standard & Poors of the South African credit rating to junk status.
Inland prices for May:
• 93 octane petrol – R13,57
• 95 octane petrol – R13,79
• 0,05 per cent sulphur diesel – R11,81
• 0,005 per cent sulphur diesel – R11,86
Costal prices for May:
• 93 octane petrol – R13,18
• 95 octane petrol – R13,30
• 0,05 per cent sulphur diesel – R11,42
• 0,005 per cent sulphur diesel – R11,47
