What will the West Rand police be doing on Mandela Day?

West Rand police and its sponsors to reach out to the less fortunate in the spirit of the late former president, Nelson Mandela.

Major General Anna Mateisi, commander of the West Rand Police Cluster, has revealed the cluster’s plans for Mandela Day.

International Mandela Day was officially adopted by the United Nations in November 2009 in recognition of the contribution and dedication to service of our late former president, Nelson Mandela.

In the spirit of the late former president, the West Rand Police and its sponsors will be reaching out to the less fortunate and striving to alleviate some of the poverty which these senior citizens face.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, “Major General Mateisi will, in partnership with sponsors, be handing over gifts to 250 elderly persons from within the West Rand Cluster. The beneficiaries were nominated by the 13 police stations in the area.

The objective of this day is to inspire individuals to be the change they want to see in the world.”

Celebrations will start at 12 noon at the Centenary Hall in Krugersdorp.
