Golfers and businesses open their hearts to SPCA

A successful golf day in aid of the Westonaria/ Randfontein SPCAs was held at the Waterpan Golf Club on Saturday, 16 September.
For weeks, the Westonaria SPCA appealed to the public and companies to keep the local SPCAs running by supporting the event, and their pleas yielded fruit. A number of sponsors including estate agencies, attorneys, tyre fitment centres, security and construction companies, car dealerships, butcheries, hardware stores and more climbed on board to assist.

Ann Utting of the Westonaria SPCA said, “On a very dry, warm and windy day, 54 players took to the field and battled the elements in a better-ball competition. Welcome refreshments on course were provided by some of the sponsoring companies while others hosted a teasing marshmallow drive competition. A most enjoyable time was had, as all would agree.
“A very special ‘thank you’ must go to the children of Modderfontein Primary School (Grades R to 3) for holding their own fundraiser on the animals’ behalf, collecting very welcome dog and cat food for a very worthy cause.”

Ann added, “The only creatures that benefit are the animals in our care. We need your help all year round.”
