Police officer survives cancer

He said it was through the support he received from his family, friends and colleges he survive.

The Bekkersdal Women’s Network, Men for Change and Employee Health and Wellness recently celebrated Cancer Month with the theme ‘Cancer can be beaten’.

Constable Joseph Thembani, a police officer survived a long and painful battle with cancer thanks to the support from family, friends and colleges.

“He felt that he was obliged to encourage other members to know their status and take care of themselves,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

He was issued with a Pink burning candle as a sign of healthy living and a basket by Lieutenant Colonel Thembekile Shibiri, the detective commander who said ” You should always have hope, faith and determination.”
